Big Red had a rough life growing up on the streets in Houston's 5th Ward where he was shot with a gun and left to die. Rescuers found him wandering the streets and promised him a better life. He would love a forever home where he could live with a family that already has another dog, or be the only dog. Big Red is very loving and easy going and he promises that you wouldn't be disappointed with him as your buddy. He has been waiting a long time for a loving home and warm bed.
The basics about Red: He would do great with another dog that is submissive and playful, as he likes to be the one leading the pack. Red loves the dog that he is currently living with right now in his foster home. They play, and play, and play until the cows come home! Cats are another thing… Mr. Red isn’t so fond of them.
Children: Red’s rescuers don't know if he was ever raised around children, so a home without small children would be best. Older children (10+) that are respectful of his previous injury to his elbow would likely be okay.
Manners: Big Red is house broken, crate trained, and walks very well on a leash. He loves to curl up on the couch and bed if you let him. He is currently working on my obedience commands.
